Hi, I can hardly believe that 2009 is here already! This year is certainly looking promising and will be another big year for me. I came to Highwood College in April 2007 to begin studying as a student. November 30, 2008 saw my graduation with a Diploma in Medical Missionary Evangelism. It was a meaningful time for me as beloved friends and family attended the ceremony of the graduation. It was during my college years that I became more grounded in my spiritual walk with the Lord, to be able to use His natural means in the Medical missionary field, to share with others my faith and to trust Him with my future. Towards the end of 2008, I had plans to work in Western Australia for the Indigenous people, however as God says "my ways are not your ways nor are your thoughts my thoughts, saith the Lord," that was true once again in my life. It worked out that at the last minute, those plans fell through and I was thrown into the valley of indecision. However in every difficulty there is a way prepared to bring relief, so by prayer....
Hi, my name is Hannah Higgins and I graduated from Highwood Missionary College at the end of last year [2008]. I would like to share with you all briefly what this past year has meant to me . Before coming here some of my family and friends really encouraged me to go to university and get established in a given career. God had other plans though and led me to where my heart has always been and that is in serving Him. During my time as a student I studied God's Word, shared with others, learnt about health, and how to use natural ways of healing. Spending time with God in prayer, Bible study, outreach in the city of Melbourne and being part of a West Australian mission trip has made me realize what matters most in life, and that is our relationship with God and sharing His love with those who know Him not. Being here as a student has given me more direction for my life and has made me want to give my all to Him to be used in His service. Follow God wherever He leads and you will never, ever regret it. May Isaiah 30:21 be your watch word. - Hannah
Discovering what God's will is for your life never seems to be easy. At least for me it wasn't. But God is good and never leaves us in the dark. Such was the case in my experience.
Going back about 3 years, I was working hard at a timber mill in Boonah, South-East Queensland. The noise was deafening, the work hard, and extremely boring. My job was to work on moulding machines that planed timber to various sizes for building, etc. My work mates were from the rougher side of society-drinking, smoking, swearing, and always talking on immoral themes. I was teased and ridiculed because I was a vegetarian and didn't drink or party around like they did. Standing there day after day feeding timber through machines seemed like a very unlikely calling for the active young man that I was. I was restless and bored....
Hello, I come from a bush-living background and it is in God's nature and the study of His Word that I find peace and happiness. My parents homeschooled me, and I owe a lot to my loving parents for who I am now. They helped me when I needed a hand and always encouraged me in my walk with God. Being raised on a farm, I learnt many lessons from all the animals we had and it never ceased to amaze me how wonderful God really is. From a humble chicken to a mighty horse there were many lessons that I learnt through God's creation. For example, God cares for us irrespective of circumstances in the environment. Highwood is a wonderful place where I learnt about Jesus and how to follow His example in being a light bearer and soul winner for the Lord. I feel that God has brought me to this place so that I can better equip myself for His......
